Pearl: The Musical

In the summer of 2023, I was given the opportunity to participate in the world premiere of the new musical Pearl. A story that surrounds the City of San Angelo, Texas, celebrating the oil boom that occurred 100 years prior! The playwright, Cynthia Jordan, collaborated with director Daniel Anderson to bring the history of this story to life. It was a story that took place in a parlor, where the audience got to watch the stories of each of the girls who worked there. I had the honor of playing the original Betsy, a young girl who wants more in life. She sacrifices everything to travel the world, only to be betrayed by her lover and abandoned at a railroad. It is then that she is taken to Miss Pearl's Parlor where she waits for her "prince charming" to come for her. Glad to say, it is a happy story in the end for Betsy, considering how her childhood crush was able to find her and bring the homesick girl back to her family.

This was a story of love, faith, and found family. Although many would have thought lowly of Miss Pearl's girls, they held themselves with grace.
